Top

Can I sell an entire website along with my domain?
Sure! Just be sure to check the appropriate box when you fill out the listing submission form. Any legalities other than the purchase of the domain name that are associated with the site is the responsibility of the buyer and seller. We cannot personally advise or transfer any copyrights or trademarks that may be associated with the site; this must be agreed upon and handled solely between the buyer and seller.
Top

How much do you charge to list a domain for sale?
Nothing! It's free! Listing a domain for sale under or standard listings are free. If you opt for additional advertising like Featured Listing or Front Page Ads, there are additional fees which are $20US per domain per 3 months for Featured Listing or $50US per domain per month for Front Page Ads.
Top

Why are your advertising prices so cheap?
It is not our intention to make money on advertising fees, although we have to charge to reduce the number of applicants, the amount of competition, and general quality of the domains listed. We don't want to make money off you until you make money from us by the successful sale of your domain.
Top

What is the difference between Featured and Standard Listings?
Standard Listings are free listings that everybody gets to post to without being charged; they are broken up by category, allowing visitors to browse based on certain subject matter. Because this listing is free, competition is high because of the ever growing number of domain names listed.

The Featured List is our way to allow advertisements with less competition. Since we do charge for these listings, the number of domains listed along with your domain is reduced. Charging also helps in limiting the list to higher quality domains, since few owners are willing to pay to advertise a domain they don't truly believe will sell. Furthermore, we do not categorize the Featured Lists to allow visitors to easily view all the listed domains. Finally, we also include a description, which we allow you to write, to entice potential buyers.
Top

How do I list a domain in the Featured List?
Simply email us at featured@domainnameintl.com and tell us the domain you would like placed on our featured list. We will then supply you with the necessary details to continue.
Top

Can I list a domain in more than one category?
No. We find it helps sell your domains to keep them listed in the one most appropriate category to keep the listings from being diluted with domains that are only questionably on-topic. This reduces your overall competition and insures that prospective buyers who see your listing are interested in its subject matter.
Top

How do I advertise my domain on your front page?
Send us an email at frontpage@domainnameintl.com. The requirements for listing on the front page are very strict. Essentially, the domain has to be exemplary and appropriately priced: Front Page Ads are reserved for the best domains on our site and will only be placed if the domain meets these qualifications. We will notify you if your request is accepted or refused.
Top

Can I list adult oriented domains?
We don't think it would be fair to forbid the listing of adult domains at Domain Name International, but since some people would find such listings offensive, we do ask that you only list questionable domains in our "adult" category. Any adult oriented domain listed in any other category will lead to immediate removal of the domain and/or termination of the domain owner's account. We firmly take this stand to insure the utmost quality and service to all users of Domain Name International and to prevent accidental exposure of sensitive material to unsuspecting users.

Furthermore, we do not generally allow adult oriented domains on our Featured List nor our front page. However, we realize what constitutes such material is sometimes subjective, so we will consider any domain on a case-by-case basis: If we do not think the domain would be offensive to others, then we may make an exception.
Top

How long does it take to get listed?
Once you submit your domain listing, it will immediately be available for viewing.
Top

Do you ever reject domains for listing?
Rarely, but there have been occasions where the domain is so offensive that we simply do not want anything to do with it. There are also times when the domain is so bad and preposterously priced that we feel the listings are better off without it (for example "akhgfrefkhijofuj.com" priced at $5,000,000,000US. Forget it; this dilutes the quality of our listings. When this happens, we inform the submitter of its rejection. If multiple domains are submitted at once the rejection of one does not necessarily reject the others.
Top

What is your commission for a successful sale?
10% with a $250US minimum. This and the wiring fees (usually less than $30US) are deducted by our Escrow Service after the transfer of the domain is confirmed and before we wire the money to you.
Top

How can I be sure I'll get paid once I transfer my domain to the buyer?
We use our Escrow Service which will secure the funds from the buyer before we ask you to transfer the domain. Once transfer is confirmed, we then wire this money to you minus our commission and wiring fees. This protects both you and the buyer from potential fraudulent activities.
Top

Does Network Solutions or the current registrar charge to re-register a domain to the buyer?
Yes. The fee is the same for registering a new domain, and should be incurred by the buyer of the domain.
Top

Can I list my domain at other brokerage sites?
Sure. You can use as many other brokerage sites as you like without penalty from us, and we will only take a commission if we are the ones to find a buyer for you.
Top

If I find a buyer myself, do you still charge a commission?
Absolutely not! We only charge a commission when we are the ones to find a buyer for you or are directly responsible for putting you in contact with a potential buyer who agrees to purchase your domain.
Top

If I find a buyer myself, can I still use your Escrow Service?
Yes. There is a 1% commission with a $500US minimum fee for the independent use of our Escrow Service. Email us at escrow@domainnameintl.com if you are interested in using our Escrow Service.
Top

What exactly do I get with my free webpage?
You get a page based on the detailed description you supply us when filling out the form. This will allow you to point your domain at this page to allow any direct type-in or search engine visitors to know that your domain is up for sale. If you have paid us to appraise your domain, you also have to option of getting a certified stamp of appraised value on your free webpage, so let potential buyers know that the domain has been evaluated at that price.
Top

How can I help promote the sale of my domain?
The most important thing to do initially is make sure your domain is pointed to a page, like the free webpage we supply you, that informs the visitor that the domain is up for sale. Secondly, you can submit your domain to search engines to draw traffic from people interested in your subject matter. This traffic can then be redirected to your free webpage which advertises your domain for sale.
Top

Can you link directly to my personal webpage rather than the free webpage you offer?
No. We have to maintain control over these webpages in order to protect our rights and the quality of our listings. Otherwise, there would be too many opportunities for the page to be misused, like placing false "certified stamps of appraised values", redirecting traffic to commercial sites, or trying to leach away business from Domain Name International. All of these would diminish the quality of our site and services to you.
Top

How can I redirect my domain's traffic to the free webpage you give me?
There are several free redirection services out there that will enable you to redirect any traffic to your domain to whatever URL you would like. The correct URL for your webpage is:

http://www.domainnameintl.com/domainpage.asp?dom=YOURDOMAIN.EXTENSION

Make sure you replace YOURDOMAIN.EXTENSION with your actual domain and extension, for example:
"domainnameintl.com" = "http://www.domainnameintl.com/domainpage.asp?dom=domainnameintl.com"
"domainnameintl.co.uk" = "http://www.domainnameintl.com/domainpage.asp?dom=domainnameintl.co.uk"

If you already have a domain with webspace, you can use meta-refresh tags to automatically redirect any traffic to that page. The correct format for meta-refresh is:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh"; URL="http://www.domainnameintl.com/domainpage.asP?dom=YOURDOMAIN.EXTENSION">

Make sure you include that code within the HEAD of your page and change the URL to reflect your free webpage.

Can you tell me what my domain is worth?
We offer an Appraisal Service which will give you a range of values that, in all likelihood, your domain falls within. There are no absolute values with domain names, but we are confident we can give you an accurate market value range for your domain. We also analyze the certain variables that contribute a domain's value, so you'll have some foundation for the figures. To submit an appraisal request, email us at appraisals@domainnameintl.com. This service costs $20US per domain.

I just registered a cool trademarked name; how much is it worth?
Practically nothing. Registering a name that is trademarked by another company is not a wise investment. By US law, a company has to pursue a trademark infringement or they risk losing that trademark. So unless you want to possibly end up in court, I wouldn't register one. That being said, it is often difficult to assess if a name would be a trademark infringement or not.
Top

How much does an developed site add to a domain's value?
It really depends on the site and the buyer. A lot of buyers already have a site in mind for the domains they buy, so they would actually prefer that domain to be "fresh", i.e. never before used as a site, submitted to search engines, or have irrelevant links in place for it. If they are actually buying the site, rather than just the domain name, then you have to figure both the potential value of the site as well as the actual annual return from it. A reasonable value is the actual annual return multiplied by two. If the site has enormous potential that still remains untapped, this value could be increased further.
Top

Do you limit the price I can set for my domain?
No...and yes. Since there is no absolute definitive answer as to a domain's value, it is impossible to restrict how much someone charges: it's your domain, so you are welcome to set whatever price you see fit; just keep in mind a domain priced enormously above its practical value will probably never sell.

However, there are times when we have to sit back and assess the posted price. If a domain is posted for a price absurdly over what it's actually worth (an example would be something like "carsthatwealllike123.com" for $5,000,000,000US...it's simply not worth it), then we may reject the entry until something more feasible is offered.

The only reason we do this is to maintain the quality of our site: Nothing reduces the overall perceived value of a domain brokerage site more than having half the domains lists for 50 times their ideal worth. How are potential buyers supposed to trust any of the posted prices when faced with this? So they leave without browsing further, and the other sellers suffer from it. We want to sell your domain for you, so we try to maintain the services we offer to the optimum level of quality that we possibly can.
Top

Do you offer an auction or just straight domain sales?
We only offer straight domain sales. Its easier that way and you don't lose potential buyers by false bids.
Top

Are domains worth investing in?
Yes. You have to approach them as a long term investment, since it can take months, even years, to actually sell your domain.
Top

Buying a Domain:

How do I search through your listings?
We have a search box on the left with will search through our database for domains containing a single word. You may also enter the exact domain to see if it is currently listed in our database. If you don't have an exact term in mind, then browse our Featured List or go to our Standard Listings and find a category that suits your interest and browse through that list.
Top

How do I make an offer on a domain?
Browse until you find a domain you like and simply click "OFFER" next to its price. Then simply fill in the form and submit it..
Top

Can I make an offer which is lower than the listed price?
Yes, but we can't guarantee it will be accepted. The sellers have agreed to accept prices at their posted amounts, but they sometimes are willing to accept less...and sometimes they are not. If you find a domain you really like and are afraid of losing it, I would recommend simply offering the asking price.
Top

How do I know if a domain is worth the listed price?
The easiest way is check to click the listed domain to go to its webpage and look for a "Certified Appraised Value". If there is one listed, then that domain has been appraised by Domain Name International at around that price.

Otherwise, we offer an Appraisal Service which will give you a range of values that the domain is probably worth. This service costs $20US per domain and can be used by the buyer or seller; email us at appraisals@domainnameintl.com if you would like us to appraise a domain for you.
Top

How can I be sure I'll get my domain once I pay my money?
We use our Escrow Service to secure your money until after the transfer of the domain is confirmed. Only once the transfer is confirmed do we wire this money to the seller. This protects both you and the seller from potential fraudulent activities.
Top

How long does it take to transfer the domain over to me?
It can take anywhere from a couple days to even weeks. But be assured your money is safely kept by our Escrow Service and not delivered to the seller until after we confirm the transfer of the domain.

Miscellaneous:

What exactly are domains?
A domain is the base address that you type in to find a website. For example, in the address "http://www.domainnameintl.com/index.asp", the "domainnameintl.com" is the actual domain and does not include all the other parts.

The domain is your identity on the web; it allows your website to be remembered, addressed, and found among the millions of pages in cyberspace. In some ways, your domain name is the single most important element to a successful, marketable website.
Top

How is Domain Name International different from other brokerage companies?
We also have strategically positioned affiliate offices all over the world to help with the interactivity among domain owners and domain investors internationally. We are constantly trying to increase our international representation by expanding our offices in more and more countries to further this assistance.

Furthermore, we do not charge any listing fees for our Standard Listings. We would prefer to make our income by making you money...i.e. by successfully completing the sale of your domain. A site that charges for your listing is probably not too concerned with selling your domain, since they make their money off of listing fees.
Top

Do you offer advertising space on your website?
Yes. If you are interested, send an offer and your details to advertising@domainnameintl.com.
Top

What type of payment do you accept for additional services?
We accept checks or money orders in US currency or wire transfers for orders of $200US or more. Please do not send payment with your inquiry, we will review your request and contact you with payment information.
Top

Would you like to trade links with my website?
We are always interested in increasing the traffic to our site and to promote other quality sites related to domains or webmaster resources. We cannot guarantee a link, but we will guarantee consideration; to maintain the utmost level of quality on our site, we also want our reciprocal linking partners to do the same. If interested, send your details to links@domainnameintl.com.
Top

Can I become an affiliated representative in another country?
We offer the opportunities to a few people to act as communications representatives in other countries. However, in these cases we require extensive knowledge, personal meetings, and frequent interaction with a potential candidate to determine his/her qualifications, integrity, and dependability. We strive to offer the highest quality services to our customers, and therefore are very strict in our qualifications. We don't hire anyone who does not gain our 100% confidence.
